2017 CrossFit Open WODS

Welcome back! We’re right in the middle of March so that means we’re right in the middle of the CrossFit Open. All this month we’ll be focusing on this giant sporting event. CrossFitters from all over the world will be competing against each other for a chance to qualify in the CrossFit Games later this year.

At the bottom of today’s post, you’ll find the links to other post in this series we published earlier this month. We hope you go back and check them out. Today we’ll be covering the first and second week’s WODs. If you’re participating in the open, be sure to list your times in the commenting section. CrossFit Open WODS For Weeks 1 and 2

17.1: Feb. 23 – 27

The first Open Workout, 17.1, was announced by Castro from Reebok CrossFit Louvre located in Paris, France. Then Patrick Vellner and Brent Fikowski, the third and fourth fittest men on Earth from the 2016 Games, started the Games live from Reebok CrossFit Yul, which is located in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

For the women’s side, the 2013 Games champion Samantha Briggs and 2016 Games 12th-place finisher Kristin Holte competed for 17.1 times in Paris.

Men – For time – use 50 lb. dumbbell and 24 inch box – capped at 20 minutes:
Vellner vs. Fikowski

  • 10 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 20 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 30 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 40 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 50 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs

Women – For time – use 35 lb. dumbbell and 20 inch box – capped at 20 minutes:
Holte vs. Briggs

  • 10 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 20 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 30 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 40 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs
  • 50 – dumbbell snatches
  • 15 – burpee box jump-overs

17.2: March 2 – 6

Castro announced the WOD for 17.2 from Rogue Fitness Headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. The Fifth-fittest woman on Earth, Kari Pearce, battled it out against Kristi Eramo. Framo was a rookie last year who finished 8th overall at the 2016 Games.

Men – Use 50 lb. dumbbells; Do as many rounds / reps in 12 minutes as possible:
2 rounds:

  • 50 ft. – weighted walking lunge
  • 16 – toes-to-bars
  • 8 – power cleans
  • 2 rounds:

  • 50 ft. – weighted walking lunge
  • 16 – bar muscle-ups
  • 8 – power cleans
  • Alternate between toes-to-bars and bar muscle-ups every 2 rounds.

    Women – Use 35 lb. dumbbells; Do as many rounds / reps in 12 minutes as possible:
    2 rounds:

  • 50 ft. – weighted walking lunge
  • 16 – toes-to-bars
  • 8 – power cleans
  • 2 rounds:

  • 50 ft. – weighted walking lunge
  • 16 – bar muscle-ups
  • 8 – power cleans
  • Alternate between toes-to-bars and bar muscle-ups every 2 rounds.
