  • Before you begin taping, make sure your skin is clean and dry. However, don’t apply the tape immediately after you get out of the shower. Make sure you are completely dry and have had time to cool down if your shower was a hot one.
  • If you apply KT tape after you work out to be sure to give yourself time to cool down, as well. Also, be sure you have stopped sweating and your skin is completely dry.
  • Oil or lotion residues can keep it from adhering properly. If you’ve used any type of body lotion, sunscreen, body spray, or other product that has an oil residue within eight hours of applying the tape, take an alcohol-based product and rub it onto the area where you will be applying the tape. This will help it adhere to the skin properly. You can use rubbing alcohol, hand sanitizer, astringent, or other skin prepping product.
