Burning Calories at the Beach

In today’s post, we are going to focus on land activities. These are fun games and sports that are great for the entire family, and people of all ages.

Beach Volleyball – One of my favorite all-time summer activities is beach volleyball. It’s a really fun sport that men and women, of all shapes and sizes, can play together. It’s also a fun family activity, especially if you have teenagers. Playing beach volleyball is estimated to burn between 480 and 710 calories an hour because the sand will create resistance. It’s also a good multi-muscle group activity so you’ll get really good exercise. Combine this with other fun beach activities and you’re in for one heck of a beach workout.

Paddle Ball – Another fun game to play at the beach is paddle ball, or beach tennis. It’s a simple game that anyone can play. The goal is to keep the ball from hitting the ground using a paddle or racket. Just like above, the sand will create resistance while you’re out chasing the ball around. It’s estimated that you can burn between 350 and 500 calories each hour you play. This activity will also help CrossFitters because it will help you increase your agility, speed, and hand-eye coordination. You also have to use bursts of high energy with little resting time in between. This interval type training can also increase your cardio levels.

Playing Frisbee – Here’s another classic family friendly beach activity. Throwing a frisbee around doesn’t even have to restricted to the beach, you can toss one around anywhere. The best part is that running around in the sand can help you burn around 200 calories an hour. You’ll work out your arms, shoulders, and legs. If you add jumping and running, you’ll also increase cardio levels and improve your hand-eye coordination.

We hope today’s post will help you figure out fun ways that you can burn calories, instead of just drinking them in, while hanging out at the beach this year.
