Sometimes, getting your reps in no matter what it takes becomes a priority. However, sacrificing your form to do so is not beneficial. It’s important to make sure every rep is done in perfect form, even if that means dropping the number of reps. There’s nothing wrong with doing that as long as you are not making this mistake.
CrossFit is addicting. You’ll find that out soon enough. You may already be addicted. However, it’s important to set goals and achieve them while not overdoing it. If you’re overtraining, you could have several symptoms like changes in appetite, problems sleeping, lack of motivation, and irritability. You might even set a goal to continue on full speed. However, off days are important. We talked about this in our previous blog post. Not resting is a great way to reverse all of your progress. Don’t overtrain, remember it’s important to allow your body to recover.
CrossFit is very competitive. Whether you are in competition with yourself or someone else in the gym, it’s important to understand that improving is great until you take it too far. Pushing yourself too far cannot be a goal. Of course, pushing yourself to the limit every now and then is okay but don’t continue to do so. Pace yourself and make sure you are able to make progress and see results yet still take time off from competing with yourself and others.
Are you making any of these mistakes? Probably so, and that’s okay. Beginners have to start somewhere! That’s why we’re here to help you identify mistakes and hopefully avoid some in the future. Also be sure to check back with our previous blog to learn about more commonly made mistakes!
