Don’t forget to scale your WOD. It’s easy to take the WOD for what it is that day and try to go hard. However, you’ll need to fit the workout to your ability. That might mean changing the weight, times, or number of reps. Make sure you’re working at your level of fitness and not someone else’s. There’s no need to injure yourself when you can modify the WOD in a way that works best for you.

You may be referring to your CrossFit box as a gym. However, the term for gym in the CrossFit world is a box. This is a mistake that many people make, not just those who are beginning to try CrossFit. Those who have no idea what CrossFit is also refer to it by the wrong name. It’s a simple mistake that is easy to make. Not everyone realizes that CrossFit has its own language. Just remember, the gym is a box and, soon enough, you’ll be learning the lingo!

As we mentioned before, CrossFit is competitive. That means you’re always competing against yourself and others. However, don’t cheat yourself when it comes to reps. Be sure to squat in full depth, do all 10 deadlifts, and post accurate numbers in your workout. Holding yourself accountable is important. Do that by never cheating your workout.

Always take time to warm up before your CrossFit workout in a manner similar to what you’ve been doing previously. Jogging or walking before your workout is fine. However, it’s important to stretch properly and make sure your range of motion is ready for exercise. This will also help increase your blood flow and prepare you for a good workout.

If you’re making any of these mistakes, or the ones you find in previous blog posts, be sure to fix them as soon as possible. You’re only hurting yourself and posing risk for injury. These quick fixes can help you make sure you get the most out of your workout.
