CrossFit Resolutions That You Can Do!

Working Out with Weirdly Shaped Objects – CrossFit is all about finding new and innovative ways to train the body. This year, make it a point to put down the barbells, kettlebells, and other well balanced weights and opt for something unusual to add into your work outs. Sand bags, large tires, tree logs, large water jugs, logging chains, and many other weirdly shaped objects will help your body train to handle real life situations easier.

Try Rock Climbing – Want to increase your grip strength? Try indoor rock climbing. In CrossFit, grip strength is important. It will really help you when competing in the games, or against your own records. Indoor rock climbing involves using your hands and fingers to scale multi-story walls using just your own strength. You should try it out this year.

Unilateral Exercises – Incorporate more unilateral exercises into your daily WODs. These type of exercises use only one side of your body to move the load. Unilaterals help improve mid-line stabilization, balance, and strength. Unilateral exercises include one arm press, kettlebell clean and jerk, kettlebell snatch, and Turkish Get-ups just to name a few.

Getting Enough Sleep – One easy resolution that you should have no problem accomplishing is getting more quality sleep. Quality sleep is different and something you need more of. Getting quality sleep means getting eight to nine hours of uninterrupted sleep in a dark and quiet room. Get some blackout window treatments if you need to block out streetlamps, or early morning sunrises. You should also set the temperature so that you sleep cool and comfortable, or warm and cozy; whichever you prefer just as long as you’re comfortable. You might even consider cutting on a ceiling or desk fan to create some white noise if you can’t stand total silence. Not getting enough sleep leads to adrenal fatigue, increased levels of cortisol, and can also result in the decline of your health and performance.

Making these easy CrossFit resolutions will give you some great goals to shoot for in 2016. They’re simple, obtainable, and you’ll benefit greatly! If you’re searching for a box to help you with your fitness goals, keep reading to see why Invoke should be your number one choice!
