Speeding Up The Healing Time For Sore Wrists

Rest. Ice. Elevate. This is a common way to immediately treat many different types of sports injuries right after they happen. After an injury that creates a sore wrist, stop and rest it. During the first 48 hours you should also apply ice for 15 – 20 minutes on / off. Try to ice your wrists at least 10 times over the first 2 day period. You should also elevate your wrist above your heart during this time period to reduce swelling.

Brace Your Wrists

Be sure to buy a wrist brace or wrap. Bracing your wrists after injury will help to provide more stability by limiting mobility. This will allow the sore and damaged tissues to heal quicker. Braces also reduce the risks of more wrist injuries.

Heat Treatment

After the first 48 hours have passed and you’re finished with your icing, swelling should have stopped. Now you can apply moist heat to the injured area. This type of treatment promotes healing by increasing circulation in and around the injured area. Using damp towels that have been dipped in Epsom salts and hot water is great option for moist heat treatment. Do this 3 – 5 times for the next two days after icing.
