Josh’s Story

When I began CrossFit, I weighed 285 pounds, smoked up to a pack of cigarettes a day, and had chronic and very painful acid reflux. I had reached a point in my life where I knew I had to make some significant changes. I had previously struggled with the globo-gym experience…waiting for machines, running on the treadmill, and having no idea what to do to really get healthy. Realizing I needed help, I searched for personal trainers in Raleigh. Luckily, CrossFit came up. I began foundations with an open mind. I made a commitment to try it for 90 days no matter what.

In the beginning, due to my years of inactivity, it was very tough. I could not do much without stopping and certainly could not move the RX weights or do any gymnastic movements. Crossfit became a personal challenge for me to improve myself through improving my performance. I was hooked by the end of my 90 day personal commitment. My perspectives on many things changed. Through hard work and good coaching, I was able to lose 80 pounds in 13 months, quit smoking cold-turkey, change my diet, improve all aspects of my health, and do it all because I wanted to, not because I had to. In the next 12 months, my benchmark times greatly reduced, my lifts continued to get stronger and I was able to not only stay at a good weight, but reduce my percentage of body fat to under 10%. Even now, there are always goals and new accomplishments to keep me motivated.

This program and this community allowed me to change my life.
