The keto diet is low-carb similar to the Paleo diet. However, the main focus of keto is to eat in a way that puts your body into ketosis. When your body is in this stage, it uses stored fat for energy. Putting your body into a state of ketosis means eating things that are high in healthy fats such as nuts, seeds, avocados, eggs, and lean meats.

When your body is constantly burning fat, it will provide a lot of energy and aid in weight loss. You may, however, feel like you’re restricted on a keto diet.

Of course, the Paleo diet is also restrictive. However, many people who choose to stick to this diet at least 80% of the time feel better and have lower cholesterol, blood pressure, and regulated blood sugar levels. They also tend to maintain a healthy weight and find that the diet can be more of a lifestyle than a fad diet. Though Paleo cuts out refined sugar, legumes, grains, dairy, refined vegetable oils, processed foods, and potatoes, there is still quite a bit of variety through all types of vegetables, seafood, nuts and seeds, eggs, fresh fruit, grass-fed meats, avocado, coconut and olive oil, and flour substitutes like arrowroot powder, tapioca starch, and almond meal.
