What’s a WOD?

WOD, is something you’ll hear tossed around a lot at a CrossFit gym. So what does WOD stand for? It means “workout of the day.” Each day at CrossFit Invoke, we post the daily WOD aimed at increasing your strength and conditioning. WODs can be adjusted to fit your personalized needs, however, the goal is to keep them challenging.

Where Can I Do a WOD?

It really depends on what the workout of the day is. Some might ask you to do reps on a machine, so our fitness club in Raleigh NC might be the best place for it. Other WODs can be done at home or at a hotel gym when you’re traveling.

Are WODs for Cardio or Strength?

The answer is both! Each workout of the day will focus on specific exercises that will increase your cardio, and others that will focus on strength. Some exercises in the WOD might even require both at the same time.

Are WODs Enough for CrossFit Training?

Only you can answer that question as each person is different. The WOD is just your starting point. If you’re a serious CrossFit competitor and training for the World Games, then a daily WOD will not be enough. If you’re just a beginner, then you might have to even reduce the volume of movements inside each WOD until you can work your way up to more difficult workouts.
