However, as long as you follow the tips below, you’ll be able to continue working out during the winter no matter what the weather is like. When temps are freezing out, be sure to wear layers. Your first layer should be thin and made of a sweat-wicking fiber. Then, wear a second layer that is warm, like fleece. Your final layer should be one that can protect you from rain, extremely low temperatures, snow, or wind. Gore-Tex could be a great option for your outer layer.

It’s important to remember that you need to focus on staying dry just as much as staying warm. Winter is notorious for misty rain, frost, and other moisture inducing conditions. Be sure to wear synthetic fibers like nylon or polyester to help wick the moisture away rather than leave it on your skin. Believe it or not, frostbite is possible if your skin is left damp in freezing temps.

When temperatures are freezing out, it’s important to keep your extremities covered and protected. Hypothermia can happen before you even realize it. This means covering your toes, ears, fingers, and nose in freezing temps. Always take gloves, a hat or headband that covers your ears, and a face mask or jacket that can cover your nose.
